Job Description:
Responsibilities will include data entry, billing, inventory management, clerical duties, preparation of specimens for processing, including sorting, accessioning and aliquoting and other duties in MSS and the laboratory.
Qualifications
- Successfully completed an accredited Laboratory or Medical Assistant course or equivalent.
- CSMLS (Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science) certification or MLPAO (Medical Laboratory Professionals’ Association of Ontario) certification preferred
- Current enrollment in a recognized program for Medical Laboratory technology may also be considered.
- Effective analytical and problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrated high level of initiative.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft, Excel and working with HIS/LIS
- Recent hospital experience is preferred
- Experience with and demonstrates understanding of quality assurance and good laboratory practice
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Reliable and accountable
- Applicants must be flexible for all shift work ie. Nights, evenings and weekends
- Satisfactory attendance and performance required
