Position overview:
The Embryologist will be responsible for performing all procedures in the IVF Laboratory under the direction of the IVF Laboratory Director. The Embryologist must demonstrate knowledge and skills related to the various procedures performed in the IVF Laboratory. The Embryologist will have exceptional organizational skills, self-motivation, excellent communication skills along with a high level of independent judgment and accuracy. The Senior Embryologist functions independently and fosters cooperative working relationships within the IVF laboratory and other departments. The Embryologist must be well organized, efficient, attentive to details, responsible, and able to multitask.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and perform all aspects of embryology laboratory procedures, including oocyte retrieval, insemination, embryo culture, embryo grading, cryopreservation, and embryo transfer.
- Conduct and supervise embryo biopsy procedures for preimplantation genetic testing.
- Maintain strict adherence to laboratory protocols, quality control, and quality assurance measures.
- Monitor and evaluate embryology laboratory equipment, ensuring proper maintenance and troubleshooting when necessary.
- Collaborate with fertility specialists, genetic counselors, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement personalized treatment plans for patients.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior embryologists and laboratory staff.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements and research in the field of reproductive medicine, and implement best practices to enhance laboratory procedures.
- Contribute to ongoing research projects and participate in scientific presentations and publications.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as an embryologist in an IVF laboratory an asset.
- A master's or doctoral degree in reproductive biology, embryology, or a related field.
- Proficiency in all aspects of embryology laboratory procedures, including oocyte manipulation, sperm preparation, embryo culture, and cryopreservation.
- Extensive knowledge of preimplantation genetic testing techniques, including embryo biopsy and analysis.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail to ensure accurate and precise laboratory results.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with a diverse team of healthcare professionals and patients.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and providing compassionate care.
- Experience with research projects and scientific publications is desirable.
- Must have either a medical technology licensure/certificate and degree or a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Chemistry, or Microbiology.
