Right to Life of Louisville (“RTLL”) seeks a part-time Executive Director to lead and advance our mission to advocate for the protection of innocent human life from conception to natural death. This role has the potential to grow into a full-time position.
About Right to Life of Louisville
Founded in 1971—nearly two years before Roe v. Wade—Right to Life of Louisville is Kentucky’s oldest pro-life organization. For over 50 years, we have led the way in opposing abortion and[1] [2] euthanasia, and promoting a culture of life in the greater Louisville area. We educate the community on the dignity of life, engage in grassroots activism, and advocate for life-affirming legislation and policies at both local and state levels.
Position Overview
The Executive Director serves as the chief staff officer of RTLL, responsible for the development, management, and implementation of RTLL programs and policies in alignment with our mission. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will:
● Oversee daily operations, staff, and volunteers.
● Build relationships with donors, community leaders, and pro-life partners.
● Develop strategic initiatives to grow RTLL’s impact.
● Represent RTLL in the media and at public events.
Primary Responsibilities
Leadership & Administration
● Report to and take direction from the RTLL Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and officers regarding organizational priorities.
● Attend all RTLL Board meetings (first Monday of each month unless otherwise noted).
● Oversee RTLL office operations, including finances, staff supervision, volunteers, facilities, security, fundraising, and administrative procedures.
● Ensure compliance with all insurance, tax, payroll, and regulatory requirements.
Fundraising & Donor Relations
● Develop and implement donor management strategies, including donor acquisition, cultivation, and retention.
● Research and apply for relevant grants.
● Secure donor meetings and maintain strong relationships.
● Oversee direct mail campaigns (e.g., May and November appeal letters with donation envelopes).
Programs & Events
● Plan, coordinate, and execute RTLL events, including:
o January Prayer Service at Planned Parenthood
o Walk/LifeFest
o Annual Gala
o Educational programs
● Collaborate with local pregnancy resource centers, pro-life organizations, and colleges; attend their events.
● Manage contracts, payments, and partnerships for events.
Advocacy & Public Engagement
● Maintain expertise on pro-life issues, legislation, and related ethical topics (including abortion pills, IVF, euthanasia, organ donation).
● Attend Metro Council meetings and court cases as necessary.
● Serve as RTLL spokesperson for interviews with media outlets.
● Conduct media outreach and prepare press releases.
Communications & Outreach
● Produce monthly e-newsletters and timely updates on legislation, news, and events.
● Manage RTLL’s website and social media presence.
● Advertise programs and events to the public.
● Maintain and clean up mailing lists (Little Green Light database).
Community & Volunteer Development
● Recruit and engage volunteers and new board members.
● Oversee the Pregnant and Parenting Scholarship program (update application, interview applicants with board committee, and distribute funds to the applicant college).
Key Qualifications
Required
● Commitment to the pro-life cause.
● Extensive knowledge of pro-life issues and legislation.
● Strong interpersonal skills, with experience managing staff, volunteers, and external relationships.
● Excellent oral and written communication skills, including public speaking and media engagement.
● Proficiency in technology, social media, and database systems.
● General business knowledge, including budgeting, purchasing, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
Preferred
● Nonprofit leadership experience, including fundraising and marketing.
