The opportunity
The Team Leader Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Operations is responsible for the leadership and day-to-day management of a team of MCH nurses, and the MCH Administration Support Team.
The role requires extensive knowledge and experience in Maternal and Child Health nursing to ensure that the service is provided in accordance with the Maternal and Child Health Service Practice Guidelines and Program Standards. The Team Leader MCH Operations is required to work in close collaboration with Team Leader MCH Planning, as well as the Coordinator Community Child Health and Team Leaders for Enhanced MCH and Immunisation to provide effective leadership and management of the service including annual planning, reporting, financial management and compliance with Hobsons Bay City Council policies and procedures.
The role is expected to cultivate productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to deliver a best practice, client focused, integrated and responsive service to families with children aged 0-6 years and contribute to the development and achievement of corporate goals. It is expected that the role will actively contribute to providing a service of exceptional quality achieving this goal through collaboration with stakeholders, a strong and constant focus on customer service, developing an engaged, skilled and professional workforce.
What you'll do:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of a team of MCH Nurses and the MCH Administration Team
- In partnership with Team Leader MCH Planning, directly lead and manage the Universal MCH team to ensure a consistently high standard of service delivery, promoting the health and wellbeing of child and their families
- Anticipate, manage and resolve operations and performance issues as they arise
- Work closely with the MCH Administration Team to provide advice and recommendations to ensure a consistent and high-quality customer interface for families.
- Monitor workloads and service demand to maintain appropriate levels of service provision in all areas of the municipality.
What you'll need to succeed
- Current registration/ qualification as a nurse, midwife and Maternal and Child Health Nurse
- Highly motivated, hardworking and can lead the MCH team
- Clinical skills and detailed knowledge of the current day to day operations of Maternal and Child Health
- Strong drive to learn in relation to operations management, people leadership and budgeting
