Responsible and accountable for delivery of high-quality, cost-effective patient care using the nursing process. Assesses, plans, implements, documents, and evaluates patient care. Assists our physicians and APRNs in diagnosis and treatment procedures. Responsible for patient education, including but not limited to, IVF, IUI, FET, and Donor programs. The RN supports the standard of nursing care through the adherence to existing policies, procedures, and protocols.
Essential Functions:
- Assist physician and/or APRN with examinations and procedures
- Perform necessary lab work including sperm preparation for IUI
- Administer injections, perform necessary phlebotomy, transvaginal ultrasounds, and IUIs
- Evaluates and records health history of patient, documenting as required
- Prepare patient for exams and procedures
- Collects, labels, and documents lab specimen assuring lab results are received in a timely manner.
- Assist in patient calls and authorize prescription refills as approved by physicians
- Capable of administrating IV therapy
- Setup and stock exam rooms for daily use. Disinfect exam, treatment and lab areas
- Cleans instruments and equipment, ensuring proper sterilization procedures are followed
- Obtain referrals for maternal fetal medicine and psychological evaluation
- Follow office policies for infectious control in handling and disposing of infectious/hazardous waste materials.
- Ensure consents are completed signed and scanned into the electronic medical records
- Perform admission vitals and assessments
- Orders medical and lab supplies and assures needed supplies are available at all times
- Assures compliance with OSHA, AAAAFS, and HIPAA requirements
Surgery Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
- Escorts patient safely to procedure room
- Help prepare and maintain sterile field and sterile technique
- Assists physician with equipment as needed, helps to monitor time and equipment used during procedures
- Monitor vitals during procedure
- Monitors vitals during recovery (BP, pulse, respirations and pulse oxygen as required)
- Monitors and addresses patient’s pain level
- Administers medication as needed
- Monitors IV fluid and discontinues IV therapy
- Assesses neurological status – awake and alertness
- Reviews post-operative instructions and determines when patient can be discharged after the procedure
- Prepare Level II surgery book and retain as directed by Brown Fertility policy
- Maintain surgical book and log which includes: Patient ID, time of arrival, name of physician who provided medical clearance, surgeon’s name, diagnosis, CPT code, patients ASA classification, type of procedure, level of surgery, the anesthesia provider, type of anesthesia used, duration of the procedure, type of post-op care, duration of recovery, and any adverse incidents
Other responsibilities:
- Provides patient education and instruction, as needed
- Takes call on a rotational basis with other nursing personnel
- Ensures medical record are prepared and retained as directed by divisional policy
- Files and retrieves charts, filing information into charts
- Maintains ACLS and BLS certification

Authority / Decision Making
Decision making skills required within the scope of a registered nurse license in conjunction with physicians and other personnel.
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current Florida license as a Registered Nurse.
- Two years of successful Nursing experience in a physician office or hospital setting with venipuncture and IV Therapy skills and training.
- Good computer skills and experience with Electronic Medical Records.
- Monday through Friday with weekends as needed/scheduled
- Previous experience in women’s health, OB/GYN and/or labor and delivery is preferred.
Full Time position with benefits after 90 days.
Compensation based on experience
