Job Description:
Scientist for EHS Management
Do you want to work with risk assessment with an emphasis on biosecurity? Can you envision yourself in an independent – yet highly collaborative – role where you can shape and drive our EHS processes as a subject matter expert?
“You will be the fourth member of a business-critical team that collaborates broadly across the Ferring organization to provide operational support to our colleagues and their businesses. We look forward to welcoming you in this new EHS role,” says Björn Lönngren, Associate Director, GPRD, Compliance & Business Support.
Ferring + you
You will join our Compliance & Business Support team within Global Product Research & Development (GPRD). We support the business with everything from shipments to compliance and EHS, which will be your area of responsibility.
You can expect a great degree of variation in your tasks, as you will be dealing with processes and guidelines pertaining to everything from standard laboratory equipment to state-of-the-art process equipment.
To add further dimension, our laboratories work with analytical, formulation, process, and chemical development spanning small molecules, proteins, and antibodies – and we are continuously testing and incorporating new substances and equipment.
Your day at Ferring
As the team’s designated biosecurity responsible, your main task will be to support our laboratories with risk assessments and ensure that we receive and adhere to applicable permits.
Your primary role in this process will be to prepare, plan, and monitor compliance, which requires excellent stakeholder management skills and strong collaboration with colleagues across the organization. In addition to the laboratories, you will also work closely with our Facility team and contribute to our EHS organization.
More specifically, you will:
- Conduct risk assessments of lab processes, new chemicals, new equipment etc.
- Monitor and keep up to date with current regulations and guidelines
- Provide regular updates on EHS performance to local management and give recommendations for improvement
- Plan, prepare, and animate feedback meetings (the aim of which is to present the current situation, highlight and reward significant achievements, and bring attention to any compliance gaps and delayed actions) with the Site Leadership Team on behalf of the laboratories at least quarterly
- Prepare and document the results of the EHS Management Review
- Establish and conduct training programs for laboratory personnel and contractors
- Prepare and maintain lists of euphoriant substances
Additionally, you will participate in ad hoc compliance-related activities in the Global Product Research & Development (GPRD), Compliance & Business Support department.
Behind our innovation – there’s you
With your experience, you fully understand the importance of EHS and know how to get people on board with new initiatives. You are continuously monitoring and keeping updated on regulations and guidelines, which allows you to think ahead and provide solutions.
In this role, you will use your:
- EHS experience – specifically with laboratories in the pharma industry
- Strong understanding of relevant Danish laws and regulations
- Analytical approach to problem solving
- Scientific degree in chemistry or pharma
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
