Job Description:
Clinical Site Contract Manager (12-month temporary position)
Would you like to work in an ever-evolving field and dynamic organization where you are empowered to make impactful decisions? Can you oversee Contract Research Organizations (CROs) and manage contract negotiations with clinical investigator sites?
Join Ferring Pharmaceuticals in this one-year position and make a crucial contribution to ensuring the timely and efficient startup of clinical trials globally while honing your skills in contract negotiation, collaboration, and issue resolution.
Ferring + you
You will be a part of Global Clinical Operations, responsible for planning and executing clinical trials in phases 1-4 within all Ferring therapeutic areas. As our new Clinical Site Contract Manager, you will play a significant role in ensuring that we achieve compliance with legal, ethical, and regulatory requirements in our clinical trial agreements – ultimately allowing us to start clinical trials quicker and more efficiently.
While your immediate team includes a counterpart and a line manager in the US, you will also work closely with our legal and clinical teams at Ferring’s International PharmaScience Center in Copenhagen. Working across time zones can require meetings in the late afternoon or early morning, and you will have the flexibility to shape your hours, including the option to work from home up to two days a week.
Your day at Ferring
You can look forward to a very collaborative role. As a point of contact for the CRO responsible for developing global investigator site contracts, you will ensure that contractual terms (operational and budgetary) comply with our corporate processes, systems, and strategies. You will also determine potential needs for contract amendments and manage the contracts throughout the clinical trial life cycle.
Building your experience over time, you will be a subject matter expert, and you will:
- manage budget conflict resolution and oversee escalated contract negotiations handled by the CRO
- liaise with global and local clinical teams to ensure operational aspects of the trial conduct, including Fair Market Value (FMV) compliance, are incorporated into the budget
- review contract terms and assess budgetary risks in alignment with Ferring guidelines and processes
- provide specialized support and guidance on finalizing templates for confidentiality agreements (CDAs) and preparing clinical trial agreements (CTAs) and other ancillary agreements in close collaboration with the legal function
- review agreements for all study-specific tracking measurements for accuracy, completeness, and delivery against contracting cycle times and targets
- create and manage tracking and monitoring tools to facilitate accelerated contract execution and continuous process improvement
- develop and implement clinical contracting strategies and oversee and manage the clinical contract negotiation process
- review Informed Consent Forms (ICFs)
An important part of your role will be to observe changes in industry standards across regions, determine patterns, and help identify best practices to contribute to our continuous improvement. What must we be aware of when starting up trials in different countries? Are we paying fair market value?
“Clinical trial contracting is a multidisciplinary field that requires a key driver to accelerate the process – sometimes in direct negotiation and sometimes through the CRO, utilizing their knowledge and experience in working with the sites. We have weekly meetings, and you can expect to build a strong partnership with your CRO counterparts,” explains Freeda von Magius, Clinical Site Contract Manager
.
Behind our innovation – there’s you
To succeed in this role, you will need excellent negotiation and collaboration skills.
You have experience negotiating vendor and site contracts and budgets (including evaluating vendor performance), preferably combined with a good understanding of clinical research principles and processes.
Moreover, you enjoy working cross-functionally and internationally and have a proven ability to manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
In addition to your professional experience, you have:
- the ability to work well under pressure and with tight schedules – and to identify critical issues and escalate these to leadership when appropriate
- effective verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills
- excellent organizational and time management abilities
- a master’s degree in law or a relevant business degree
