Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, creating a positive first impression.
- Schedule appointments accurately using various EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare and other third-party payers, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate.
- Collect payments and perform medical collections when necessary, adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently while updating patient information in the EMR system.
- Review medical documentation for completeness and accuracy, including care plans, CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes, ICD-9/ICD-10 codes, and medical billing details.
- Handle multi-line phone systems with professionalism; provide excellent phone etiquette while addressing patient inquiries or directing calls appropriately.
- Maintain organized medical records and files—both electronic and paper—ensuring compliance with health information management standards.
- Assist with office management tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10-key typing), and managing office supplies.
- Verify insurance details and process claims efficiently
- Support clinical staff by coordinating patient intake procedures and preparing necessary documentation for appointments.
- Uphold HIPAA compliance at all times to protect patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing patient concerns promptly and courteously.
- Perform clerical duties including faxing, scanning documents, updating EHR systems and managing appointment reminders.
Experience
- Prior clinic or medical office experience is highly preferred; familiarity with OBGYN terminology or hospital settings is a plus.
- Proven experience with EMR/EHR systems
- Strong understanding of medical coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and medical billing processes.
- Knowledge of insurance verification procedures including Medicare guidelines.
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and health information management software
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multi-line phone systems with professionalism while maintaining excellent customer service standards.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and data entry tasks.

Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
