Position Summary
Laboratory Technician, Genetics Lab, Biochemical Genetics
Performs laboratory procedures in accordance with departmental and divisional policies. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and families.
On a practical level, you will

Performs routine laboratory procedures in accordance with policies.

Responsible for clerical and computer duties.

Responsible for reception and preparation of specimens for testing.

Filing and retrieval of reports.
-
Assists in the storage of specimens.

Performs other duties as required in accordance with departmental and divisional policies.
Qualifications
-
Graduate of Laboratory Technician program or equivalent.
-
Certified Laboratory Technician - with the Medical Laboratory Professionals Association of Ontario (MLPAO).

Maternal serum screening and/or Chemistry experience required.
-
Computer experience preferred.

Experience with LMS Alpha is an asset
-
Basic knowledge and ability to perform assigned tasks.

Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral English.

Effective interpersonal skills.

Ability to organize and prioritize workload.
-
Bilingualism in French/English an asset.
