Director of Operations, MHAS Position Summary: The Director of Operations, Maternal Health Access Services (MHAS), working collaboratively with a Market Medical Director and Vice President of Operations, is responsible for, but not limited to, the operational performance, client account management, and overall management oversight of OBHG’s maternal health access programs within their assigned geographic area of responsibility. This role requires a visible presence at their assigned program locations and is responsible for maintaining collaborative and consultative client relationships with the clinic and hospital, creating effective working relationships with OBHG and partnering to achieve the community’s goals with improved access for patient care. The Director of Operations, MHAS will report to OBHG’s Vice President of Operations but also work collaboratively with all stakeholders to internally consult with innovative solutions for the growth and development of the service line, working effectively as a leader within their region’s larger matrix organization and with support team members. This role is the primary representative of OBHG for contract negotiations and renewals within their assigned geographic area.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Builds, develops and manages operational relationships capable of achieving the goals of OBHG and the partner hospital, as well as the clinic.
- Supports the customer onboarding team with the successful and timely implementation of new OBHG programs.
- Establish and create alignment between hospital and clinic for performance objectives as they relate to OBHG services for each of the programs within their assigned geographic area and ensure OBHG’s performance and demonstration of those goals. Performance objectives are to be established in cooperation with our clinician leadership, hospital partners and clinic leadership
- Lead and coordinate support services and management resources to meet performance objectives and expectations including, but not limited to:
- Regular touchpoint calls with each assigned hospital program plus an Executive Business Review quarterly and an annual onsite business review presentation in collaboration with clinical leadership and applicable support personnel.
- Conducting scheduled meetings with matrix teams; Recruiting, Credentialing, Scheduling, HR Business Partner (“HRBP”) and/or Market Medical Director to all aspects of programs are running smoothly.
- Oversee contract including fee structure.
- Join onsite OBHG clinician interviews, if needed.
- Consult with the clinic on efficiencies to be implemented in the clinic to optimize hours, revenue/cost per hour and patient access
- Support the clinic in improved patient experience metrics
- Support implementation of community baby shower at the hospital
- Consult with clinic marketing team to improve marketing strategies within their market
- Support clinical/hospital policies with MMD and/or Site Director.
- Assisting with questions or concerns around OBHG invoices from hospital partners
- Collaborate & support the customer onboarding team in the development, implementation and direction or oversight of new programs or projects related to the achievement of strategic initiatives and goals for hospital partners.
- Promotes and ensures delivery of the OBHG unique value proposition with the hospital partner C-Suite (CEO, CFO, COO, CMO, CNO), nursing leadership, clinic leadership other influential hospital stakeholders as appropriate.
- Identify areas where OBHG can help our hospital partners improve operations or business development.
- Create or review proposals for new business and expansion of current business, including financial proforma.
- Understand the financial and operational impacts of program changes as well as pricing.
- Assist with the financial review of programs (including professional fees and facility fees).
- Prepare for and conduct Executive Business Reviews quarterly with hospital leadership at each site.
- Lead contract renewal negotiations in conjunction with corporate objectives.
- Lead solution development efforts that best address each hospital needs while coordinating the necessary involvement of the internal OBHG personnel.
- Identify and / or support Business development opportunities to identify growth opportunities and develop strategic initiatives plan in effort to grow women’s line. (OSA, coverage for MFM).
- Work with the Marketing departments of OBHG and the partner hospital regarding press releases and marketing material.
- Engage with community physicians to ensure they are fully aware of our program and the services we offer. Considering bringing the local Site Director and MMD (if available) to any community physician meetings.
- Evaluate operational issues to determine whether OBHG remains competitive and current with the latest trends in healthcare delivery and share your findings with the Vice President of Operations and/or Market Medical Director.
- Responsible for or participates in special projects and other administrative responsibilities as assigned.
- Work with Business Development and Sales team in the pursuit of new business within your assigned geographic area of responsibility or as directed.
Other Responsibilities and Relationships
- Directs and participates with internal committees, task forces and affiliated organizations, as requested.
- Meet and communicate regularly with OBHG Vice President of Operations on any and all operational issues that may be considered as potentially damaging to the relationship within their assigned geographic area of responsibility.
- Represent the organization to external organizations as required.
- Demonstrate safe work practices and attitudes, follows safety rules, works to prevent unsafe conditions and behaviors, and participates in organizational and departmental safety programs.
Essential Skills/Credentials/Experience/Education
- 3 to 5 years of practice management or administration(including operations supervisor) in women’s healthcare specifically in outpatient
- Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, healthcare administration, or other related field or equivalent experience. Master’s degree in business administration, healthcare administration, or other related fields are strongly preferred.
- Experience in managing C-suite level stakeholders and creating strategic alignment across inpatient and outpatient stakeholders
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Excellent leadership and management skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including negotiations.
- Requires interpersonal skills to be able to interact effectively with all levels of hospital staff, medical staff, patients, governmental and other external agencies, members of the general public in sensitive, delicate, and/or complex situations. Must be able to make effective presentations before a variety of internal and external audiences.
- Problem solving skills are necessary to prioritize assignments and make decisions in the best interest of the company and patient care.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills/Credentials/Experience/Education
- Strong computer skills, in Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
- Preferred understanding of medical terminology.
- Knowledge of relevant state and federal healthcare regulations.

- Sitting for long periods of time. Occupation requires this activity more than 66% of the time (2.6+ hrs/day).
- Travel Demands:
- Moderate to extensive air and land travel between corporate headquarters and client locations.
- Requirement to visit all hospitals and clinics within first 6 months of starting, maintaining the relationship averages 1 visit per year
