This is an exciting opportunity for an organized and detail-oriented Licensed Practical Nurse to join our collaborative interdisciplinary team. The role offers work life balance with shifts from Monday to Friday 8 am to 4 pm and occasional weekends (Maximum 4 hour weekend shifts).
The role of the LPN requires collaborative relationships with colleagues and patients, and this candidate will work closely alongside the Medical Director, Nurse, and supporting physicians. Reporting to the General Manager and the Medical Director, the LPN will be responsible to assist in keeping efficient and effective patient flow throughout the Clinic.
Clinical Responsibilities
Assist the Physician and RN with designated nursing duties:
- Assist with embryo transfers
- Ensure that supplies are replenished following procedures in retrieval, transfer and recovery rooms.
- Draw patient blood for testing, label appropriately
- Assist the Phyisican in performing pap smears and swabs on patients
- Escort patients in and out of the clinic
- Act as chaperone, assist with procedures (IUI, Sonohysterogram)
- Counsel patients regarding pre-testing, and consent forms
- Prepare appropriate requisitions
- Document interactions with patients.
- Prepare information for “chart review” – organize EMR charts for review each month
- Teach patients how to give themselves injection
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information
- Participate in Quality Assurance Program
Safety and Maintenance
- Carry out indirect patient care activities including:
- Cleaning the Recovery Bays and transfer room between patients.
- Daily and monthly checks of equipment as required by Clinic policies
- Assist with laundry duties (scrubs)
- Replenish clinical supplies in examination and procedure rooms.
Administration
- Monitor clinic supplies, observe both inventory levels and expiry dates, order medical supplies, and check packing slips against the order placed when goods are received.
- Notify the Supervisor and the Clinic Manager of any discrepancies
- Place calls to laboratories to obtain test results for patients waiting to start cycles if their results are not in the AHS system.
- Attend meetings as required.

Qualifications
- Holds a current license as an LPN
- Be in good standing with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA)
- Has completed a course in Phlebotomy or is prepared to complete the course
- Has ACLS certification or is prepared to complete it
- Two to five years of previous work experience in a hospital setting or working with the public.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and organizational skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as a member of a team.
- Demonstrated initiative and flexibility to meet workload demands.
