SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) provides medical care and treatment to OB/GYN patients, perform gynecological exams and office procedures, and educate patients on prenatal and postnatal health practices and infant care. The CNM works closely with other medical practice staff and participates in coverage for vacations and illnesses.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Participates in examinations of obstetrical patients as needed and collaborates with midwives from Boston Medical Center and Brigham & Women’s Hospital, who are primarily responsible for the care, treatment, and delivery of the patient.
- No labor or deliveries; outpatient prenatal and GYN care only.
- Leads Centering Pregnancy group visits for prenatal patients.
- Discusses cases with the obstetrician to ensure adherence to specified practices.
- Instructs patients in healthy prenatal care practices.
- Proficient in gynecological office procedures.
- Performs postpartum examinations and treatments to ensure the patient and infant are responding normally.
- Proficient in conducting gynecological exams and Pap smears.
- Proficient in addressing family planning and menopause-related issues.
- Maintains case records in the electronic medical record system.
- Performs other duties as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
- Current nursing licensure as a Nurse Midwife in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Certification by the American College of Nurse Midwives.
- Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a nurse in obstetrics.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a practicing midwife with demonstrated clinical competencies.
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, clinical practice standards, normal maternal/fetal growth and development, and nurse midwifery practice requirements.
- Ability to independently seek out resources and solve complex problems.
- Ability to process and prioritize information, perform health assessments, provide treatment, and conduct follow-up.
- Ability to accurately document assessments and interventions, record activities, and prepare reports and presentations.
- Strong communication skills with patients, families, visitors, healthcare teams, physicians, administrators, and leadership.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and the Epic electronic medical record system.

Pay: $110,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year

Experience:
