Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced detail-oriented, and dedicated Medical Biller to join our fertility clinic's administrative team. The Biller will be responsible for handling patient billing processes, ensuring accurate submission of insurance claims, following up on unpaid claims, and maintaining records of patient accounts. This role requires a solid understanding of medical billing practices, especially within the fertility and reproductive health sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Insurance Claims Processing: Submit claims to insurance companies, including private payers and government programs, for services rendered at the clinic.
- Payment Posting: Accurately post payments received from insurance companies and patients to appropriate accounts in the clinic’s electronic medical records (EMR) system.
- Billing Compliance: Ensure that all billing practices comply with relevant insurance regulations, coding standards (ICD-10, CPT), and clinic policies.
- Claims Follow-up: Investigate and resolve denied or delayed claims by communicating with insurance companies and updating patient records accordingly.
- Patient Billing: Prepare and send patient bills for services not covered by insurance and provide clear explanations of charges.
- Account Reconciliation: Review patient accounts regularly, resolve discrepancies, and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Patient Assistance: Communicate with patients regarding their billing inquiries, payment options, and financial assistance programs available.
- Maintain Confidentiality: Adhere to HIPAA regulations and ensure patient billing information is securely handled.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; an Associate’s degree in healthcare administration, medical billing, or related field is preferred.
- Certification: Certified Medical Biller (CMB), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or related credential.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing. Familiarity with fertility treatments and procedures, such as IVF, egg freezing, and IUI, to accurately bill services.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in using medical billing software, EMR systems, and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with fertility-specific billing practices is a plus.
- Knowledge: Understanding of ICD-10, CPT coding, HIPAA regulations, and insurance claim processes.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare professionals.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve billing discrepancies in a timely manner.
