You’ll help us make health happen by:
- As a Surgical Care Practitioner in the Theatres, you will be required to work alongside the Lead Surgical Care Practitioner to support Robotic Surgery within the department.
- You will have responsibility to the Consultant surgeon, with day-to-day assisting under the direction of the operating surgeon and as a member of the surgical care team.
- Provide safe, competent patient side assistance across multiple robotic surgical specialities.
- Be calm, reliable and organised in a busy environment.
- Act as first assistant if procedure moves to an open/non-robotic conversion.
- Eventual cross cover between Da Vinci Xi & SP robotic platforms.
- Team player helping ensure the smooth flow of robotic cases through the department.
- Robotic trouble shooting, advising, and planning where required.
- Shared oversight of robotic equipment and related consumables.
- Varied working hours.
- Assist with ad-hoc robotic staff training mornings (usually two – three times annually).
- This is a clinical bedside assistance role with no patient clinics or ward rounds involved.
What you’ll bring:
- Qualified Surgical Care Practitioner (SCP)
- Da Vinci Robotics Experience
- Registration as a healthcare professional (e.g. nurse or ODP)
- Experience in a theatre working environment
- 18 months working within a similar autonomous role is desirable.
- Stakeholder management experience at different levels (consultant, theatre staff, and other disciplines).
- Excellent communication and listening skills
- A keen and agile learner
- An approachable member of staff to all levels of clinical & non-clinical team members.
- Ability to work efficiently in the clinical environment on a day-to-day basis and plan ahead effectively.
- Willingness to be part of a dynamic, expanding robotic programme.
- Academic and/or journal publication experience desirable.
