Job Summary:
The Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) plays an integral role in women's healthcare from adolescence through postmenopause. The CNM is responsible for providing a range of healthcare services including gynecological examinations, contraceptive counseling, prescriptions, and labor and delivery care. This professional will ensure that all care provided aligns with the standards and guidelines set by our healthcare institution and within the established scope of the midwifery practice.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide full scope midwifery care including prenatal, postpartum, newborn care, family planning, and well-woman care in accordance with established clinical protocols
- Perform regular examinations of patients to ensure overall health and well-being
- Assist in the education and counseling of individuals, families, and groups in health promotion, disease prevention, and management of acute and chronic illnesses
- Facilitate and manage normal pregnancy, labor, and birth, and provide initial newborn care alongside the healthcare team
- Coordinate care with other healthcare professionals as necessary
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess the patient's physical condition
- Monitor the maternal condition during labor and coordinate necessary interventions as needed
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to enhance patient health and wellness outcomes
- Document patient's health history, physical examination results, care plan, interventions, and outcomes accurately
- Keep up to date with new developments in the field of midwifery and frequently engage in professional development activities
Prerequisites / License & Certification Requirements:
- Completion of a CNM program in the United States
- Active CNM license in the state of Arizona (or eligibility for licensure)
- 1-2 years of midwifery experience (not open to new graduates at this time)
- Current BLS certification required; NRP certification preferred
