The Job: The Center is looking for an avid social media user with their pulse on the trends and a deep understanding of each platform’s unique offerings. This person should be able to effectively use video, copy, and other imagery to tell the stories of the global reproductive rights movement online and should be comfortable with the full cycle of social content production. If you are chronically online, love experimenting with new trends on social platforms, often ponder how algorithms choose what comes across your FYP or Discover feed, and are passionate about reproductive rights, then this job might be a good fit. The ideal candidate will be a solutions-oriented, creative problem solver who enjoys collaborating with others in a fast-paced environment and has outstanding writing, proofing, and project management skills. This person will be a part of our global communications team, working across continents to amplify the unique and important stories and messages coming out of every region. They will report to the Senior Manager, Social Media, and work across departments to produce content for all the Center’s social media platforms.
This is a fixed-term position for 2 years. The positions will be based in the Center’s New York City office in a hybrid model of 3 days in-office, 2 days working from home. Covid-19 vaccination is required for all US-based employees of the Center.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Create best-in-class social media content, including video content, that keeps audiences informed and engaged in the global movement for reproductive rights.
- Collaborate with colleagues at every stage, from brainstorming strategic content and campaign ideas to seeking approval from key stakeholders to ensure each post is accurate and presents the Center as effective experts in the repro space.
- Stay at the cutting edge of social video trends, including those on TikTok and Reels, and determine ways for the Center to authentically participate.
- Assist with community management across all of our global platforms and help build relationships with potential collaborators.
- Execute rapid response moments with guidance from the Senior Manager, Social Media. Note: These moments will sometimes occur outside of normal business hours.
- Maintain fluency in digital content best practices and stay abreast of emerging social trends.
- Keep colleagues, both local and global, updated about social media content plans and maintain content calendars.
- Collect and reflect on social media performance data. Suggest data-informed ways to improve organic reach and engagement across all social platforms.
- Assist with other digital team and global communications department responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of relevant professional experience, including 4+ years of experience creating social media and social video content for high-profile organizations or brands with a demonstrated ability to grow audiences and increase engagement. Nonprofit and/or issue campaign experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to use video to tell stories and fluency in the full cycle of video production: brainstorm, outline, pitch, script, film, edit, incorporate feedback, distribute, and analyze performance.
- Strong understanding of social media and social video landscapes.
- Demonstrated creativity in producing compelling social media content that moves audiences.
- High comfort level with soliciting feedback from multiple stakeholders and incorporating it into your work.
- Experience analyzing social media performance data, including video data, to optimize future content and campaigns.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; reliable scriptwriting, fact-checking, and proofreading skills.
- Ability to work independently, successfully advance competing priorities, and deliver high quality content in a fast-paced environment with rigorous standards.
- Ability to travel.
- A fierce conviction that reproductive rights are human rights.
Compensation: The salary for this position is $93,000. This salary reflects a position based in New York City or Washington, D.C. This salary will be subject to a downward locality adjustment if authorization is granted to work outside the location listed in this posting. Note that most of the salaries listed on our job postings reflect New York, NY salaries, where our National offices are headquartered.
Duration: This is a 2-year, fixed-term position.
Union Status: This position will be part of the CRR Union, a shop within Local 2110 United Auto Workers—Technical, Office, and Professional Workers Union.
FLSA Exempt Status: This is an exempt position.
