POSITION PURPOSE

The Temporary Maternal Health Program Associate reports to the Program Manager to support CHC: Creating Healthier Communities’ maternal health programmatic initiatives. This supports CHC’s maternal health initiatives, including the Better Births Initiative (BBI), maternal health partnership deliverables, and community-based implementation work. This role provides administrative, programmatic, coordination, and project management support during a period of increased program activity. The Program Associate demonstrates a foundational understanding of public health principles and practices, background knowledge in public health programming and community engagement, and familiarity in the designated areas of work. The position has the opportunity to be primarily remote with some in-person needs required. Some travel may be required. This is a part-time temporary position working a maximum of 29 hours per week from January 12, 2026 through May 22, 2026. Eastern or Central time zone is preferred.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Support maternal health program planning and execution, including scheduling, logistics, documentation, and communication.
- Assist with implementation of BBI deliverables, partner coordination, and technical assistance workflows.
- Maintain and monitor project management platforms, timelines, deliverables, and event schedules.
- Prepare maternal health program materials and visuals including briefs, one-pagers, slides, convening packets, and outward-facing resources.
- Assist with program evaluation tasks such as data collection, template development, and basic analysis support.
- Support coordination of meetings with community partners, funders, and cross-departmental CHC teams.
- Provide administrative support: agenda drafting, meeting notes, follow-up summary distribution, file organization, and listserv maintenance.
- Provide logistical support for maternal health convenings, webinars, community events, and partner meetings.
- Assist with the preparation of grant deliverables and reports.
- Serve as a responsive point of contact for maternal health partners as needed.
- Support CHC’s Social Impact portfolio by occasionally assisting with other equity-focused or community programs, including cross-project coordination and general administrative tasks as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM THE WORK
- Foundational understanding of public health, maternal health in underserved populations, community engagement, or health education.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to multitask and manage multiple timelines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with qualitative research methods, including conducting focus groups, interviews, listening sessions, and community conversations.
- Ability to code qualitative data and support thematic analysis and synthesis.
- Experience designing, administering, and managing surveys in Qualtrics and/or REDCap.
- Ability to support survey development, data cleaning, and basic evaluation analysis.
- Ability to identify and forecast technical and administrative assistance-related needs and perform duties as requested.
- Ability to support program evaluation tasks, including data tracking and documentation.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, self-directed, and comfortable working independently.
- Strong technical skills using Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Zoom, Canva, Asana, and similar platforms.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, contractors, and community partners.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in public health, social sciences, health education, or a related field (bachelor’s degree with significant experience considered).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in public health, nonprofit program coordination, maternal health, or community-based initiatives.
- Experience working with diverse communities and cross-sector partners.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain professionalism and use sound judgment when working with partners, community members, or high-level stakeholders.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage responsibilities within a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
TRAVEL
This position requires some travel.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job has the opportunity to operate completely remotely if the candidate is not locate in the DC, Maryland, Virginia (DMV) area.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation and must be able to sit and stand as needed with a significant amount of time spent stationary at a computer.
This position also requires the ability to travel occasionally, including by car, train, or air. Candidates must be able to:
- Sit for extended periods during travel or meetings.

- Work occasionally in the evenings and on weekends, depending on travel needs.
