Job Responsibilities
- Development, monitoring and reporting of immunization grants and contracts.
- Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) on vaccine-preventable diseases, immunization practices and CDC/ACIP recommendations for public health districts.
- Provide consultation and guidance to state and local public health nurses and professionals on immunization policies, protocols, and practices.
- Develops immunization protocols and training for the Standard Nurse Protocol for Registered Professional Nurses in Public Health and the Policy and Procedure Manual for Public Health Nurse Training.
- Collaborate with the Immunization Program Director and Chief Nurse to advance agency priorities related to immunization.
- Develop, implement, and complete annual review and revision of section policies and guidelines for internal staff.
- Collaborate with the designated contractor to plan, implement, and host the annual Immunize Georgia conference.
- Serve as an active member of the Georgia Immunization Advisory Committee.
- Serve as Nurse Planner, coordinating and supporting continuing education activities for public health staff, including both new and ongoing activities.
- Facilitate immunization education audits, evaluating field staff’s ability to deliver and interpret federal guidelines to the provider community.
- Represent the state immunization program at each Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) meeting, reporting back to the program all new or revised ACIP recommendations, vaccine information, etc.
- Serve as the primary Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) contact and designated back-up Vaccine Safety Officer for the Georgia Immunization Program.
- Collaborate with the Director of Emergency Preparedness Nursing to provide vaccination guidance during emergency response efforts.
- Participate in outbreak response and emergency preparedness planning.
- Collaborate with the School Health Nursing Consultant and the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) to develop, coordinate, and deliver trainings and educational resources for school nurses and other school personnel, including training on school immunization audits, to support safe and effective immunization and public health practices.
- Support initiatives and priorities in the Division of Women, Children, and Nursing Services.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in nursing, public health or related field from an accredited college or university AND Seven years of professional nursing managerial or supervisory role and current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license; Or one(1) year of experience at the lower level PH Manager 2 (HCM081) or position equivalent.
