We are seeking an experienced IVF Medical Director & Person Responsible (PR) to lead clinical governance and regulatory compliance within a licensed fertility clinic in Northern Ireland.
This is a senior leadership position responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and ethical care in accordance with HFEA and RQIA regulations.
The successful candidate will provide strategic medical leadership while holding statutory responsibility under the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act 1990 (as amended). You will oversee patient-centred, evidence-based fertility services and drive excellence across all aspects of clinical performance and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational clinical leadership across all fertility services.
- Serve as the Person Responsible (PR), ensuring compliance with HFEA Code of Practice and RQIA standards.
- Oversee clinical governance, quality systems, and regulatory inspections.
- Lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, ethical, and effective care.
- Maintain inspection readiness and continuous compliance with all statutory requirements.
- Manage clinical risk, incident reporting, and patient safety frameworks in line with Duty of Candour (NI) regulations.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement in clinical practice.
- Act as principal liaison with HFEA, RQIA, and GMC on clinical and regulatory matters.
Qualifications & Experience
- Fully registered and licensed with the General Medical Council (GMC) and listed on the Specialist Register.
- Eligible for appointment as the Person Responsible (PR) under the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a licensed fertility or tissue establishment (UK/EU).
- Proven leadership in clinical governance, quality management, and regulatory compliance.
- In-depth knowledge of UK fertility legislation, traceability, and consent frameworks.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to manage diverse clinical teams.
