ROLE
REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S)
- Current certificate of registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Completion of the Perinatal Nursing Course or the Maternal Newborn Nursing Course approved by Perinatal Outreach Program of South Western Ontario (excluding Module Two) required
- Neonatal resuscitation certificate
- Current BLS certificate
- Completion of IV therapy course or current experience in the administration of IV therapy
- Completion of IV Medication course or current experience in the administration of IV medication
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE(S)
- Knowledge of or the ability to perform the functions related to the scrub nurse role for c-sections in a Maternal Child environment
- Skilled in medication administration
- Excellent physical assessment skills
- Demonstrated commitment to family centered care and excellent customer service focus
- Working knowledge of or the ability to quickly comprehend the Meditech Information system and personal computer applications
- Well developed interpersonal, communication and teaching skills
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and function both independently and interdependently with the interprofessional care team
- Evidence of ongoing professional development and continuing education
DESIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE(S) & EDUCATION
- Current clinical experience in a Maternal Child/Postpartum environment including performing the functions related to the scrub nurse role for c-sections preferred
- Completion of RPN Operating Room Course and/or experience in the Operating Room is an asset
- Completion of Breastfeeding Course required with level 1 preferred
