Job Summary:
The OB/GYN Medical Assistant will support healthcare professionals in an OB/GYN practice by providing clinical and administrative assistance. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a compassionate demeanor, and the ability to handle sensitive patient information with discretion. Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
- Assist with patient preparation for examinations, including taking vital signs and documenting patient histories.
- Provide patient education on procedures, treatments, and follow-up care.
- Assist in minor surgical procedures and obstetric/gynecologic exams.
- Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout their visit.
Clinical Duties:
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens.
- Perform basic laboratory tests and administer medications as directed by the physician.
- Assist Physician/Midwife with office procedures.
- Maintain examination rooms, including cleaning and restocking supplies.
Administrative Duties:
- Schedule patient appointments and manage electronic medical records.
- Handle phone inquiries and provide patients with information regarding their care.
- Assist with billing and coding for insurance purposes.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff to ensure efficient patient flow.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to a positive work environment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical setting, preferably in OB/GYN.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to speak Spanish is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced clinical environment.
- Interaction with patients, healthcare providers, and administrative staff.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
