Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team at CReATe Fertility Centre in Toronto, Ontario. In this vital role, you will contribute to our mission of delivering exceptional fertility care by providing compassionate support and expert nursing services to our patients.
Responsibilities
- Participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team to provide optimum patient care. To communicate with the multidisciplinary team, including physicians, business office, administrative staff, ultra sonographers, laboratory technicians, embryologists, complementary medicine practices to facilitate patient care.
- Provide patients with clear and concise information prior to commencement of their treatment plan. Patient assessment, evaluation, coordination and education for ovum retrieval, fresh and frozen embryo transfer cycles for all patients. Teaching includes protocols ordered by the physician, safe medication administration, pre and posts procedure instruction, interpretation of blood and ultrasound results with physician instructions for the next steps.
- Translates complex medical information to help patients make informed decisions.
- Ensure the rights; confidentiality and privacy of the patient are always protected.
- Provide patients with advice and support as necessary, throughout their treatment.
- Practice evidence-based nursing, applying accepted and validated research.
- Practice in accordance with the code of ethics and standards as set by the College of Nurses of Ontario, the CFAS and CReATe Fertility Centre.
- Ensure patient’s safety and well-being at all times.
- Provide emotional support in an unbiased manner.
- Exercise tact and compassion in dealings with patients and relatives in accordance with patient’s cultural and spiritual needs
- Ensure that the correct control, storage and administration of medication are undertaken in accordance with CReATe Fertility Centre’s policies.
- Adhere to the terms and conditions of employment as stated in the Employee Handbook.
- Ensure accurate and safe reconciliation of supplies including stock medication.
- Ensure that all records are kept in a clear, accurate and legible manner, and that all entries are signed and dated.
- Participate in training as required including fire safety, WHMIS, infection control, hand hygiene and emergency response & disaster planning.
- Maintain competency through education and research.
- Take an active role in department policies, processes and procedures by monitoring and maintaining standards of care in conjunction with other team members.
- Maintain the Quality System as it pertains to the processes performed in the OR.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings as required.
- Active role in monitoring and improving patient safety as it applies to my duties and responsibilities.
- Responding to patient inquiries by phone or email.
Qualifications
- RN / BSC.N
- Advanced practice and/or post graduate experience with reproductive health care
- Related experience in gynecology, labor and delivery, operating room
- Advanced counselling and/ or adult education skills.
- Current ACLS and/or BCLS
- Member of RNAO
- Preferred – member of CFAS
- Preferred – member of the Nurses Special Interest Group - CFAS

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: $35.00-$37.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16 – 20 per week
