Position Summary:
In this role the registered Ultrasound Sonographer will perform the Ultrasound scan in-office.
They will balance patient interaction and technological performance with a firm knowledge of anatomy and pathology by working cohesively with physicians and healthcare teams that care for our patients.
Verifying and maintaining patient records with the ability to document medical notes related to the ultrasound procedure.
Performing the ultrasound examination and ensuring the transducer (probe) is capturing images correctly.
Evaluating the images for their quality and interpreting the captured images.
Presenting images and preliminary findings to physicians and the healthcare team for appropriate patient care management.
Performing and documenting maintenance and sterilization processes of ultrasound probes, and medical instruments. Maintaining ultrasound equipment in accordance with MBMB policies and practice.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
· Perform ultrasonic diagnostic procedures in accordance with accepted protocols as directed.
· Maintain ultrasound equipment in appropriate operating condition reporting any issues immediately.
· Maintain accurate department records, reports and files as directed.
· Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information (HIPAA/Compliance)
· Work as a team member and communicate effectively with not only MBMB staff but also other healthcare professionals we work with.
· Records and codes all applicable examination results and completes all relevant medical documentation.
· Ability to respond appropriately to patients’ questions related to testing
· Maintain quality and infection control standards
· Able to troubleshoot technical difficulties with ultrasound equipment
· Work independently with minimal supervision
· Strong organizational and interpersonal skills including the ability to manage interactions with difficult people
· Job requires a minimum level of knowledge ordinarily acquired through completion of a Bachelors Degree or equivalent NYS-accredited training program in sonography in order to learn Ob/Gyn, or vaginal sonography, as well as knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
· Good analytical skills necessary for handling of ultrasound patients during administration of diagnostic testing. Must be able to appropriately assess the correct action to take during testing, while being cognizant of patient wellbeing.
· Good interpersonal manner important during delivery of patient care to ensure harmonious provision of ultrasound examinations and testing.
· Work requires manual dexterity for use of sonographic equipment and instruments. Light lifting of clinical supplies will be required. Adequate physical strength required for positioning of patient and equipment during examinations. Our organization is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our staff as an Ultrasonographer.
This is a contracted position that involves working with patients of all ages, using state-of-the-art imaging equipment and sophisticated technology to produce accurate readings. The Ultrasonographer will be responsible for producing quality images, documenting results and patient visits, and maintaining an organized workspace.
Responsibilities:
- Assess pregnancy, including gestational age.
- Assess peripheral vascular disease and abdominal aortic aneurysm.
- Assess and report on the condition of testes, ovaries, and fallopian tubes.
- Supervise phlebotomists and other medical personnel.
Required Criteria
- Graduate of an accredited program in Ultrasound Technology - required
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must have demonstrated at least 3 years of experience in patient care within Obstetrics and Gynecology.
- Experience with both Fertility and Pregnancy preferred but not required.
- Basic computer skills required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
Licensure/ Certifications
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer with American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) required in OB/GYN, No exceptions
Prior experience performing ultrasound procedures in an outpatient setting required.
