The Maternal and Infant Support Services Supervisor works under the Manager of Maternal and Infant Support Services to assist with daily oversight related to the Women's Health and Specialty Services, Prenatal Education and Lactation Programs and also provides support to the Womens and Newborn's Services Executive Director as needed.
The Women's Health and Specialty Services (WHSS) program provides all Women's Services patients at Kennestone Hospital with the education, support and resources they need to navigate the Women's Services. WHSS provides in-patient new and expecting parents with education, support, follow up after discharge, and referrals to community resources. WHSS provides needed education and support to the other patients in Women's Services as needed. WHSS also offers patients a Specialty Package for purchase and navigation for expecting employees through the Building Families program. The Maternal and Infant Support Services Supervisor will train and supervise volunteers and Women's Health and Specialty Services staff. The Supervisor will meet goals of the program by collaborating with other departments also serving patients of Women's Services Patient Care staff, Women's Unit, Mother/Baby, Labor and Delivery, Ante-partum, NICU, Lactation Services, Social Services, etc. The Maternal and Infant Support Services Supervisor functions as the daily team leader to the Departments volunteers and staff.
Assist Manager of Maternal and Infant Support Services and Director of Womens and Newborns Services with departmental tasks as needed
- Provide WHSS Staff Meetings and assist with Prenatal Edcuation and Lactation departmental meetings
- Assist Manager and Executive Director of Womens and Newborns with physician relations.
- Take on special projects for Maternal and Infant Support as well as Womens and Newborns Services.
- Approve time off/vacation and develop and maintain department schedule monthly for WHSS, Prenatal Education and Lactation
- Kronos for WHSS, Prenatal Education, and Lactation
- On site resource for WHSS, Prenatal Education and Lactation staff and Womens Services leadership in the absence of Maternal and Infant Support Manager.
- Share patient/staff rounding responsibilities with Womens Service Managers
- Assist Mangager with budget development and oversight for Prenatal Education and Lactation.
- Assist Manager with program development of Prenatal Education and Lactation.
- Assists with strategic planning for MISS with Manager.
Provide on-site management of Womens Health and Specialty services program.
- Responsible for education, resources and support to all patients on Mother/Baby and Ante-partum at Kennestone Hospital.
- Responsible for follow up calls/visits to all participating new or expecting parents.
- Reponsible for follow up mail/email to all participating parents
- Keep statistics for WHSS.
- Continue program expansion and development.
- Oversee Mother/Baby and Antepartum WHSS growth.
- Oversee Womens Unit program development. Coodinate with Breast Navigator and prosthesis fitter for Mastectomy patients
- Oversee Womens Services Specialty Package development
- Maintain statistics for WHSS Mother/Baby, APU, Womens Unit and Specialty Package programs. Provide monthly reports to other departments in WellStar Health System.
- Lead Building Families program development and provide education and navigation for system employees on WellStar offerings for new parents. Coordinate with system vendors (HR, employee health, etc) to provide updated resources to employees.
- Lead car seat program for Kennestone Hospital in partnership with Cobb/Douglas Safe Kids. Liasion for seat program to Mother/Baby and ER nursing staff.
Serve as a resource for patients and/or families, staff, physicians, nurses and leadership working with Maternal and Infant Support programs and as a liaison to other departments(Patient Care Services, Social Services, WIC, L&D, APU, M/B, WU.)
- Attend Meetings as Womens Support Services/ Maternal and Infant Support Services contact (L&D ,M/B, WU Shared Governance,L&D, M/B, WU Staff meetings etc.
- Provide education and updates to other hospital staff: Day, Night, and Weekend Shifts
- Work and plan WHSS program in coordination with other departments: L&D, Mother/Baby, NICU, APU, Lactation, Hearing Screen, Social Services, WIC, Birth Certificate, Language Interpreters, Community Health.
- Coordinate program showers for system employees and organized vendors at locations throughout the WellStar system.
Provide continuous development and upkeep of pregnancy, parenting and womens health resource materials, Policies and Procedures, and Maternal and Infant Support website.
- Oversee the process for locating and updating community resources.
- Continually develop and update educational information
- Continually grow knowledge of womens health areas and share new education with staff and patients.
Provide recruitment, screening, training, and supervision of volunteers, interns, and of Womens Health and Specialty services staff and supervision assistance for Prenatal Education and Lactation to MISS manager.
- Provide supervision of WHSS staff.
- Complete training for new hires in the WHSS.
- Education- Design and implement Volunteer In-Services and provide In-Service Minutes to Volunteers out of office.
- Scheduling of staff, interns, and volunteers.
- Coordinate volunteer recruitment, screening and training of all Womens Services volunteers with Womens Service management team and volunteer services.
- Supervison on unit of all Womens Service Volunteers.
- Assist Manager with Supervison of Prenatal Education and Lactation staff.
- Assist Manager with hiring, counseling and evaluation of MISS staff.
Maintain of Womens Health and Specialty services supplies including HSS ordering, distribution, and storage as well as monitor monthly program budget.
- Maintain Budget for of Womens Health and Specialty services (Education and Specialty Programs)
- Maintain Supplies- Order and stock
- Oversee Stock Maintenance
Performs other duties as assigned
Complies with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
GED of a Diploma Program in nursing or a graduate of an accredited university with a Bachelors Degree in a related field. Required and
Bachelor's Degree in Family\Child Development, Social Work, Nursing (with Certification in Pediatrics, Maternity Services, or Psychiatry) Required
All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.

Basic Life Support or BLS - Instructor
Less than 1 year experience in the health care/parenting field collaborating with a variety of disciplines (at least (two) 2 of the following) health care providers, social workers, parents, service providers, and/or community service agencies Required
Independent, self-directed, adaptable to change, positive work attitude.
Organizational and above-average communication skills a must.
Presentation skills.
Computer expertise in e-mail, word processing.
