We’re looking for a dynamic Senior Midwife to lead the Midwifery-Led Care (MLC) service within the Kensington Wing, the private maternity unit at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
As a senior clinical leader, you’ll play a key role in delivering safe, personalised, evidence-based care across the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal journey. Your expertise, leadership, and strong communication skills will help ensure an outstanding experience for private clients.
You’ll bring proven leadership experience, supporting colleagues and coordinating antenatal clinics, community care packages, and clinical shifts. Working closely with private obstetric consultants, you’ll uphold high clinical standards and foster a positive, customer-focused environment.

- Line management of Midwifery Led Care Team
- Lead and support MLC service, based within the private maternity unit, having direct responsibility for overseeing the care package
- Ensuring appropriate staff covers through staff rostering.
- Cover other band 7 or band 8a duties as and when required
- Identify and propose recommendations and work closely with Operations Manager to deliver initiatives to improve current service offering
- Co-ordinate a multi-disciplinary approach within the Trust Maternity Services, in all issues relating to Midwifery Led Care and the delivery of a recognised standard of care across all areas of the maternity services
- Utilise risk management strategy to ensure related policies and guidelines are implemented effectively through clinical governance processes.?
- Provide and present monthly and/or annual reports, detailing performance of MLC provision with Private Maternity.?
- Provide effective leadership and act as a good role model.?
- Awareness of financial issues related to the provision of services and the implementation of new developments.?

The post holder will be a clearly identifiable and essential senior clinical member of the team, responsible for leading the Midwifery-Led Care (MLC) service for Kensington Wing, the private maternity unit. They will bring significant clinical experience and expertise to ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe, and compassionate, evidence-based care.
They will coordinate antenatal clinics and community care packages, maintain excellent communication and organisation with link consultants, and ensure the highest standard of clinical care in line with current guidelines. The post holder must also have a clear understanding of working within a private healthcare setting, including the expectations of clients and the importance of providing a personalised and customer-focused experience.
The post holder will be responsible for delivering and supporting the team to provide an exemplary service that promotes evidence-based care and advice to all women and birthing people, as well as their families. They will assess and deliver maternity care tailored to individual needs within the appropriate clinical pathways.
As part of their leadership responsibilities, the post holder will line manage and effectively roster Band 6 midwives within the MLC team to ensure continuity of services. They will also play an active role in recruitment, audits, complaint handling, and governance assurance. Additionally, they will lead shifts and ensure consistently high standards of clinical care within the ward environment, fulfilling their role as a senior midwife within the unit.
