Job Overview
We are currently seeking experienced and compassionate Registered Midwives to join our temporary staffing pool for ad-hoc shift work across a busy NHS Trust in North East London. This is an excellent opportunity for flexible, self-motivated professionals to deliver high-quality maternity care within a supportive team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, evidence-based, and woman-centred care throughout the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualised care plans.
- Provide support and advice to women and their families, promoting normal birth wherever possible.
- Work effectively within multidisciplinary teams including obstetricians, neonatal staff, health visitors, and other allied professionals.
- Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to NHS and NMC standards.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to emergencies within maternity settings.
- Contribute to audit, governance, and service improvement activities where required.
Requirements:
- NMC Registered Midwife – Active PIN required.
- Minimum 6 months post-registration midwifery experience, ideally within an NHS maternity setting.
- Proven ability to work independently and within a team.
- Excellent communication and clinical decision-making skills.
- Up-to-date knowledge of current best practice, guidelines, and safeguarding protocols.
- Flexibility to work various shifts including days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays on an ad-hoc basis.
Desirable:
- CTG interpretation competency.
- Experience across all areas of maternity including triage, delivery suite, antenatal, and postnatal wards.
