This is an exciting opportunity to acquire knowledge and develop academic, research and clinical skills in Fetal-Maternal Medicine and high-risk obstetrics. The post-holder will primarily work in Medway Fetal and Maternal Medicine Centre (MFMC) but will also be expected to support the high risk obstetric Antenatal Clinics and Maternity Care Unit (MCU). There is no expectation to undertake any work in Gynaecology Department nor to contribute to on-call rota. The MFMC, MCU and ANC work in tandem and offer specialised protocol based care to women deemed to be at a high risk for either fetal or maternal conditions.
The post holder will be supported to learn obstetric ultrasound scanning and encouraged to acquire research skills. The fellowship is aimed at candidates who are interested in pursuing an academic career in Fetal-Maternal Medicine or high risk pregnancy. The candidate will be supported to learn not just clinical skills relating to Fetal Medicine but contribute to the development and undertaking of research studies. There are ample opportunities to participate in clinical audits, quality improvement and research projects.
