Kindbody’s clinically managed program covers the full spectrum of reproductive health, including both female and male fertility, which encompasses fertility assessments and education, fertility preservation, genetic testing, in vitro fertilization (IVF), donor and surrogacy services, and adoption, as well as a full continuum of reproductive care including physical, mental, and emotional support.
About the Role
You will be working in a fast-paced, rapidly growing environment where you will be relied on for your expertise, professionalism, and collaboration. The Medical Coder researches and analyzes data needs for claim submission and reimbursement, ensuring appropriate coding on all claim submissions based on ASRM, AMA, CMS, and individual payer regulations and guidelines. This role is a full-time position.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that medical codes are assigned correctly and sequenced appropriately as per government and insurance regulations
- Comply with medical coding guidelines and policies
- Review patient medical records for verification and accuracy of billed charges
- Follow-up and clarify any information that is not clear within the medical document to ensure appropriate coding
- Track, trend, and report high volume coding items discovered to Coding Manager on weekly basis or more frequently, if requested, (if area of concern impacts a large volume of patient accounts or is a compliance concern, alerts leadership immediately upon discovery)
- Responsible for monthly reporting of all identified coding related trends and deficiencies on assigned market scheduled call
- Reviews coding requests from internal and external teams to determine if coding updates are needed based on supporting medical documentation, making necessary corrections as needed
- Reviews coding related denials from insurance companies to determine if claim submission coding is appropriate, making claim corrections if appropriate, or if initial coding is appropriate, providing feedback to AR team based on payer and ASRM guidelines that will assist in appeal of claim denials.
Who You Are
- Minimum Work Experience: 2 years experience in medical billing and coding, with experience in Infertility preferred but not required
- Required Licenses/Certifications
- Medical Billing and Coding School Completion
- Certified Medical Coder with Certification
- Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of coding systems, ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS
- Attention to detail
- Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards
- Skill in verbal and written communication.
- Ability to read, interpret and apply policies and procedures.
- Ability to set priorities among multiple requests.
- Ability to research and interpret coding guidelines and policies
- Ability to accurately trend, track, and report coding related issues to manager
Education
- College degree preferred, however, work experience will be considered
- Appropriate Coding Certification as mentioned above
