The Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic provides outpatient services to a diverse womens health population. The majority of women receiving care in this clinic are accessing the services of the Maternal Fetal Medicine and/or Prenatal Diagnosis teams. Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists offer tertiary level obstetric care to women with complex medical disorders and to women experiencing maternal and/or fetal pregnancy complications. Prenatal Diagnosis specialists offer prenatal screening, diagnostic testing and genetic counseling to women during the antenatal phase of pregnancy. A family centered approach to care is fundamental to our service provision as we offer seamless care to women and their families.
As a member of the multidisciplinary PND health care team, the Genetic Counselor will provide genetic assessment and counseling to women or couples with a family history of genetic disorders, advanced maternal age, positive prenatal screening results or abnormal ultrasound findings in a current or previous pregnancy.

1. Master's Degree in Genetic Counseling
2. Certified (or eligible for certification) by Canadian Association of Genetic
Counselors (CACG) or American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC)
3. Demonstrate expertise in interviewing for patient assessment, and providing
genetic counseling to pregnant women and their families
4. Experience and knowledge in managing perinatal bereavement
5. Demonstrated knowledge of prenatal screening and testing technologies,
including recent and emerging developments
6. Experience in evaluating and developing resources for clients and professionals
7. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team
8. Demonstrated ability to develop and enhance community partnerships
9. Demonstrated familiarity with the use of genetic related electronic databases and reference resources.
10. Demonstrated expertise in interpersonal and communication skills
11. Demonstrated expertise in critical thinking, organization and time management
skills
