ONE Fertility Burlington is a state-of-the-art full service fertility centre devoted to providing specialized fertility care, counselling and treatment. As Phlebotomist/Medical Laboratory Assistant role, you will support ONE Fertility’s overall goal of providing excellent patient care by directly engaging with patients, supporting blood analysis lab, administration, operations and nursing teams.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Collect blood from patients, log patient samples and prepare them for testing
- Set up medical laboratory equipment and conduct routine laboratory tests and sample analyses
- Cleaning and sterilizing medical and laboratory equipment, and insuring overall cleanliness of the clinic
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with patient/families and interdisciplinary colleagues
- Act as an effective team member by sharing opinions, discussing issues and finding solutions as a team
- Report any critical incidents in a timely fashion to the Clinic Aid / Medical Laboratory Assistant Supervisor and participate in continuous quality assessment and risk management on an ongoing basis
- Assisting with the preparation of patient information packages, laboratory requisitions, filing of patient reports and any other general office duties as required
- Cleaning examination rooms, procedure rooms and collection rooms in between patients
- Performing laundry duties, including washing and folding linens and uniforms
- Stocking examination rooms with supplies
- Other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of Grade 12 diploma is required
- Has completed a course in Phlebotomy/Medical Laboratory Assistant program
- Previous experience in a fertility clinic/medical setting is preferred
- Familiarity with EMR and associated applications is preferred
- Demonstrated interpersonal and organizational skills
- Self-motivated individual who can work independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrated initiative and flexibility to meet workload demands
