Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and knowledgeable Lactation Consultant to join our growing healthcare team. In this role, you will provide expert guidance and support to new mothers in their breastfeeding journey. Your primary focus will be on promoting optimal infant feeding practices, addressing concerns, and enhancing the overall health and well-being of both mothers and infants. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patient care and medical terminology, along with a passion for supporting families during this crucial time. This is an independent contractor position not an employe-ship. Flat rentals are preferred for use of a shared room partially however we can negotiate a split revenue if preferred to begin with.
Responsibilities
- Conduct one-on-one consultations with new mothers to assess breastfeeding techniques and challenges.
- Provide education on breastfeeding benefits, techniques, and proper latch.
- Develop personalized feeding plans tailored to individual needs.
- Offer support for common breastfeeding issues such as pain, low milk supply, or infant feeding difficulties.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for mothers and infants.
- Maintain accurate documentation of consultations and progress notes.
- Stay updated on the latest research and best practices in lactation consulting.
- Facilitate group classes or workshops on breastfeeding for expectant mothers.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) is required.
- Background in nursing or healthcare is preferred; experience in patient care is essential.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology related to lactation and maternal/infant health.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide empathetic support.
- Ability to work independently in a private practice model.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development in lactation consulting practices.

Pay: $25.00-$70.00 per hour
