Job Overview:
We are a leading fertility practice seeking a detail-oriented Medical Collections Specialist to join our team. This role is essential in managing our revenue cycle, with a primary focus on accurately tracking patient accounts and ensuring timely collections. The ideal candidate is experienced in medical billing and collections, understands the unique aspects of fertility services, and is committed to providing an exceptional experience for our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Billing and Invoicing: Prepare, process, and send invoices for patient services in a timely manner.
- Payment Posting: Accurately post payments to patient accounts, reconcile accounts, and manage adjustments as needed.
- Account Reconciliation: Conduct regular account audits to ensure accounts are balanced and identify discrepancies for resolution.
- Pre-Collections Support: Proactively identify accounts that may require early financial intervention.
- Collections: Monitor accounts for overdue payments, follow up with patients to collect outstanding balances, and establish payment arrangements as needed in accordance with internal policies.
- Third-Party Correspondence: Send patients to an external collections agency and serve as the point of contact for all subsequent inquiries.
- Patient Communication: Address patient inquiries regarding account balances and billing professionally and compassionately.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all transactions and interactions, generate A/R reports, and assist with month-end close activities.
- Compliance: Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with HIPPA, federal/state regulations, and internal audit standards.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years in accounts receivable, medical billing, or a related field (experience in a fertility or reproductive health setting is a plus).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, healthcare administration, or a related field.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in medical billing software, EHR systems, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- Knowledge: Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding, as well as HIPAA regulations.
- Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients.
- Attention to Detail: High degree of accuracy and attention to detail in data entry and record-keeping.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills for identifying issues in accounts and claims.
