Key Responsibilities: Using a woman focused approach to assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual programmes of care, ensuring clinical practice is clinically effective and research based. Develop multi-disciplinary maternity guidelines through active participation in relevant PODS/forums/focus groups and the dissemination of knowledge. Demonstrate a commitment to evidence-based practice, highlight areas for change, then initiate and evaluate evidence to improve and develop woman centred care. Promote health education within the clinical area and be able to advise the women, families, and others in health promotion.
Develop and strengthen interpersonal relationships with all members of the multi-disciplinary team ensuring good team working, collaborative working practices and professionalism through liaison with associated services including child Protection, Social Services, teenage pregnancy groups etc. Comply with NMC standards for records are maintained to reflect the care, treatment, advice, and tests provided. Midwifery Preceptorship Programme: Upon successful application, you will be welcomed by a dedicated preceptorship team who will provide you with the skills and knowledge to become confident and competent practitioners. Our bespoke preceptorship program offers robust training to facilitate the application of learning in a clinical setting and support the transition from student to newly qualified midwife.
There is a large variety of specialist midwifery roles in Portsmouth's Maternity Service, with a close link to our level 3 NICU. Thisoffers our staff the opportunity to be exposed to complex care management and to consolidate and strengthen staff's skill and knowledge base to support with career progression. Following completion of your preceptorship programme you will be provided with a continuation of post preceptorship support on our beyond-preceptorship programme. The focus during this period will be on continued pastoral support, aspirations and career progression and development.
