The Role
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Portfolio and Ideation Manager to join our team, supporting the business across a variety of key functions. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to bring their experience and help Aspire to develop their portfolio and continuous growth.
What will you be doing?
- The role is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the pharmaceutical product portfolio to ensure that the company’s pipeline is aligned with business objectives and market demands. This role involves strategic decision-making, prioritizing initiatives, and managing the lifecycle of products from development through commercialization. The Portfolio Manager works closely with R&D, commercial teams, and senior leadership to make data-driven decisions and maximize the value of the portfolio.
- Responsible for driving innovation and idea generation within the Aspire. This role involves identifying market trends, fostering collaboration between cross-functional teams, and developing new product concepts, services, and business strategies. This role works closely with R&D, marketing, regulatory, and commercial teams to ensure that innovative ideas align with business goals and industry regulations.
- Responsible for the strategic alignment of Aspire’s in-licencing, out-licencing, development and core lifecycle management of current & future product portfolio. The geographic scope being UK, EU, MENA, Far East and USA.
- Provision of strategic leadership to the functions, driving organisational excellence across developments & partnerships, supporting key initiatives and external collaborations, and optimising resource allocation trade-offs to meet priorities underpinning UK and international growth plans.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Act as a thought partner and advisor to the COO and Head of Research & Development in identifying key priorities and strategic topics for discussion within their functions and jointly across the combined portfolio.
Idea Generation & Innovation Strategy
- Lead ideation sessions and workshops to generate new pharmaceutical product concepts.
- Identify industry trends, technological advancements, and unmet medical needs.
- Develop and refine innovation strategies in alignment with company goals.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize and assess the feasibility of new idea
Portfolio Strategy & Management
- Develop and implement portfolio strategies to maximize the value and impact of pharmaceutical products across all stages of development.
- Lead the assessment and prioritization of product candidates based on clinical data, market opportunities, and strategic alignment.
- Manage the product portfolio lifecycle from discovery through commercialization, supporting the efficient allocation of resources.
- Provide recommendations on product prioritization and resource allocation to senior leadership.
Portfolio Performance Tracking
- Manage Portfolio Management System PIMS, and other portfolio and pipeline tracking tools to ensure accurate database entry and timely reporting.
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the success and impact of the portfolio.
- Prepare and present regular portfolio performance reports to senior management.
- Provide strategic insights based on performance data to drive continuous improvement and course correction as needed.
The Person
- Experience (minimum 4 years) in program management.
- Experience (minimum 4 years) in strategy development.
- Ability to lead within matrix and influence without authority through formal channels and informal network.
- Ability to work with agility, taking multi-faceted approaches to transfer knowledge and know-how, and form teams for follow-through.
- Financial acumen, with an ability to evaluate budgets accounting, business case development.
- Entrepreneurial behaviour, capable to create/optimise opportunities and resources.
- Outstanding collaboration, communication and people skills.
- Excellent organisational and leadership abilities.
- Strong scientific background and understanding of drug discovery is critical.
- Good communicator.
