Full scope CNM full time position with focus on inpatient L&D coverage as well as postpartum rounds.
Job Description:
Primary Responsibilities:

Renders full-scope midwifery care to selected clients in accordance with agreed-upon protocols, and in accordance with the Standards of Practice of Nurse-Midwifery of the American College of Nurse-Midwives and Massachusetts law.

Consults appropriately with nonphysician and physician providers to assure optimal MAMA care to clients.

Attends regular obstetrics and gynecology grand rounds, MAMA staff meetings, and other meetings as required, and serves on departmental and hospital committees.

Provides clinical education and preceptorship to midwifery, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and medical students as assigned. 5. Participates in professional education activities and maintains own competency in practice.

Engages in public education activities and represents Mount Auburn Midwifery Associates and Mount Auburn Hospital at such events as assigned.

Shares on-call coverage with other certified nurse-midwives to provide 24-hour coverage to clients of Mount Auburn Midwifery Associates.

Works under direction of the Director of Midwifery Services.
Required Qualifications:

Current registration in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to practice as a nurse in the expanded role of nurse-midwife, or, in the case of a graduate nurse-midwife, current registration in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to practice as a professional nurse.

Successful completion of a midwifery educational program approved by the American College of Nurse-Midwives.

Successful completion of the national certifying examination administered by the American College of Nurse-Midwives.

Appropriate interpersonal skills to work with clients, other providers, and staff.
Social/Environmental Requirements:

Usual office, ambulatory care, and inpatient unit environment.

Potential exposure to infectious diseases, unpleasant odors, bodily fluids, and hazardous materials. Adherence to proper safety precautions minimizes risk of injury
