Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our healthcare team. In this critical role, you will provide exceptional care to expectant mothers during labor and delivery, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for both mothers and newborns. You will collaborate with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care while maintaining accurate medical records.
Responsibilities
- Monitor the health and progress of laboring patients, assessing vital signs and fetal heart rates.
- Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families throughout the labor process.
- Administer medications as prescribed and manage pain relief options for patients.
- Assist with the delivery of newborns, including performing necessary procedures such as suturing when required.
- Maintain accurate medical records, documenting all relevant patient information in compliance with hospital protocols.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans for patients.
- Provide postpartum care to mothers and newborns, including education on breastfeeding and infant care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care standards.
Experience
- Current nursing license with a focus on Labor and Delivery nursing preferred.
- Experience in outpatient settings or internal medicine is advantageous.
- Familiarity with medical records management systems is essential.
- Knowledge of ICD-9 coding is a plus.
- Experience in caring for children or providing dementia care can be beneficial.
- Understanding of physiology related to pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum recovery is necessary.
- Previous experience in operating rooms (OR) may be considered an asset.
- Proficiency in ostomy care is desirable.

Pay: $89.00 - $90.00 per hour
