Job Title: OB/GYN Medical Assistant

Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our OB/GYN practice. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care and support to our physicians and clinical staff, ensuring an exceptional experience for every patient. This role involves both administrative and clinical responsibilities in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment, with a strong emphasis on phlebotomy and women’s health procedures.
Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
- Prepare exam rooms and assist OB/GYN providers with examinations and procedures
- Record vital signs, medical histories, and pregnancy-related data
- Perform blood draws and manage specimen collection following phlebotomy protocols
- Conduct urine pregnancy tests, fetal heart tone monitoring, and other diagnostic screenings
- Assist with pap smears, pelvic exams, ultrasounds, and minor in-office procedures
- Administer injections, vaccines, and medications as directed by the provider
- Provide patient education on prenatal care, family planning, STIs, and gynecological health
- Maintain a sterile and organized clinical environment in line with infection control standards
Administrative Duties:
- Schedule patient appointments and handle follow-up communications
- Document patient information accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
- Coordinate referrals, lab testing, and insurance authorizations
- Answer phones, manage messages, and interact with patients in a courteous and empathetic manner
- Monitor and restock medical supplies and ensure all equipment is functioning properly
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or Phlebotomy certification strongly preferred
- At least 1 year of experience in an OB/GYN or women’s health setting is highly desirable
- Proficient in performing venipuncture and handling lab specimens
- Familiarity with EMR systems (e.g., Athenahealth, Epic)
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and multitasking skills
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Must be able to lift or move up to 25 pounds occasionally
