An OB-GYN, or Obstetrician-Gynecologist, diagnoses and treats various medical conditions that impact women’s health. The duties include diagnosing and monitoring illnesses and diseases, providing medical support to pregnant women, and performing routine check-ups on female patients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Diagnoses and treats conditions that affect women, such as certain types of cancer and conditions like menopause.
Works with expecting mothers to explain the childbirth process.
Performs routine checkups with patients.
Provides childbirth and postpartum care for new mothers.
Diagnoses and prescribes medication or a treatment plan for patients to carefully follow.
Performs routine check-ups on these patients regularly to ensure they maintain top health conditions
Works closely with expectant mothers to monitor their health both throughout their pregnancy and while giving birth.
Educates these mothers on ways to care for their bodies during pregnancy to ensure a safe and healthy childbirth for both the patients and their babies.
Greets patients, vendors and other providers either in person on the telephone in a courteous and professional manner.
Provides primary medical care by caring for all patients in accordance with the physician’s medical specialty.
Develops a plan of care for each patient, including: complete medical history, medical diagnosis, appropriate treatment and/or referral, including hospitalization where necessary and stresses the importance of preventive health care measures.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Licensed to practice in the state of Tennessee.
Graduate of an accredited institution of medicine with a degree of Doctor of Medicine/Osteopathic Medicine.
Completion of an approved residency program in the appropriate discipline of medical practice.
Must maintain professional affiliation with a national medical society.
Must have the ability to relate with warmth and effectiveness to the patients and other health care providers of the health center.
Must be qualified in Basic Life Support techniques. Maintain BLS, PALS, & ACLS certifications as applicable.
