Where you'll be working
The Maternity and Gynaecology Service based at John Hunter Hospital under the Hunter New England Health District. The Maternity and Gynaecology Service has 48 Obstetric beds (with an additional 15 flexible beds) and performs 4,300 deliveries per annum. We offer world class facilities that are constantly growing and expanding to include new and better training and service provision. Experience urban/tertiary training in a city full of lifestyle but at half the price of Sydney living, and much shorter travel times. We have outstanding rural sites that offer fantastic training with enthusiastic and experienced clinicians, in addition to a great rural community collaborative ethos where the network provides the required support.
What you'll be doing
The primary purpose of the Unaccredited trainee is to provide safe, effective and equitable medical services to patients under supervision, while being responsible for the initial assessment of patients and ongoing day to day management under the direction and supervision of the appropriate Consultants. The O & G Unaccredited Trainee has a responsibility for ensuring appropriate communication and documentation takes place as well as a responsibility for the training and supervision of junior medical staff.
- Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role.
- Advanced ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams, including the sharing of appropriate information internally and externally with key persons or services.
- Advanced ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise.
- Advanced verbal, written and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to vary communication style in line with the understanding of the needs of diverse audiences.
- Advanced ability to prioritise workloads and display a flexible approach to meet changing situations in a demanding and unpredictable clinical environment.
- Commitment to participating in training and development opportunities to further develop skills and knowledge in the area of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
- Previous experience in and willingness to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and training.
