Role Purpose:
As a member of the nursing team at Create Fertility, you play a vital role in delivering an effective nursing service while ensuring high-quality patient care. This includes providing holistic nursing care and maintaining the highest clinical standards in line with the clinic’s philosophy, current policies, procedures, the NMC Code of Conduct and HFEA regulations.
Additionally, the ability to perform high-quality transvaginal scans to assess and support patients before, during and after treatment is desirable but not essential.
If performed, these scans should follow the specific standard operating procedures (SOPs) of ABC/CREATE.
Duties and Objectives:
- To represent Create Health by promoting Create ethos and reputation
- To adhere to all areas of the HFEA code of conduct
- To always deliver high quality care by assessment and evaluation of couples/ patients individual needs
- To act in a manner as to satisfy patients trust and confidence, patient advocate and providing patient support
- To establish and promote efficient and effective communication to all staff, patients and visitors
- To work with all members of the multidisciplinary team in order to ensure positive outcomes for each couple’s treatment
- To be able to work independently and adaptive to role/task changes
- To be approachable and friendly and work as part of the team accepting delegated responsibility from the nursing team and supporting the clinical/ nursing team in the day-to-day running of the scan lists and theatre procedures
- To be able to refer/escalate patients to senior team members MDT
- Promote counselling service to all patients
- Recognise potential safeguarding issues and inform appropriate team members to ensure referrals are made
- (eg. FGM, domestic violence, multi-agency safeguarding hubs)
- To act in accordance with the Data Protection Act and The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act.
- To be able to book appointments for procedures in IDEAS
- Be familiar with IT platforms
- Prepare consultation rooms at the start of the day and prepare coding sheets for the clinic lists
- Ensure accurate and real time documentation into IDEAS to maintain up to date patient records
- Chaperoning and assisting with procedures (e.g. scans, examinations, hyCoSy and smears)
- Assisting with procedures in theatre (eg.embryo transfers, egg collections, IUI)
- To assist ensure the safe recovery of patients post theatre cases
- Ordering stock items as necessary
- Responsibilities for the upkeep and ordering of the laundry supplies and clinical waste
- Emptying bins and clinical waste at the end of the day as appropriate
- Maintaining a safe environment for clients and staff
- Stocking of phlebotomy, scanning rooms, theatre and recovery as required
- Maintaining a clean environment for procedures and theatre recovery
- To be able to perform phlebotomy and have an understanding of results
- Perform pregnancy tests and be able to give the results to the patients
- Assist with the database in collating information about treatment cycles
- Perform wellness calls after procedures
- Obtain outcomes from patients who have received treatment
- First treatment scan checks
- Liase with TDL
- Performing treatment consultations when received adequate training
- Provide patient information materials about treatment and medication
- To be link nurse/ Co Ordinator for speciality or task – Clinic dependant/specific
- Assign/export treatment consents
- Understanding of the medicine management policy and dispensing of medication
- To communicate and liaise with the medical/nursing staff of central hubs and satellite units to provide effective patient communication
- To help and support other hub and satellite clinics
- To participate in the weekend roster as required
- To take a supportive role in the unit’s policies and standard settings in conjunction with other team members
- To supervise clerical and junior staff in the team as required
- Ensure policies are followed and problems and incidents are reported as appropriate
- To help train and audit clinical practice regarding the company’s SOP in infection control and Health and Safety
- Participating in audits in the nursing department
Qualifications, Experience / Personal Specification
- High Patient Satisfaction: Maintain excellent patient satisfaction and safety outcomes

- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure full compliance with HFEA and all other relevant regulatory standards

- Efficient Service Delivery: Efficiently manage on-call duties, rota commitments, and overall clinical service.

- To be aware of the centres fire regulations and cardiac arrest and emergency procedures
- Complete the CREATE Campus training

- To assist the Deputy Head of Nursing and/or Head of Nursing where required

- To assist Head of Nursing and her deputy in appraisals/disciplinary meetings
- To be an advocate for other members of the nursing team
