Nepean Hospital is a teaching hospital that provides tertiary referral services in emergency care, coronary care, diagnostics, gynaecology, paediatric, neonatal intensive care/ICU, maternity, mental health, rehabilitation, and surgery. The Nepean Campus has recently experienced tremendous growth and aims to support communities within and outside of Sydney’s western suburbs, providing world-class clinical facilities, services, and care.
The Research Midwife/Nurse is responsible for providing a range of expert professional support for the co-ordination of QI programs across the local hospital/unit. In this capacity, the position will primarily coordinate the “Wait a Minute of More (WAMM)” program in the local hospital setting.
Coordination and facilitation of local interventions via Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycles across the hospital to increase the average number of seconds before cord clamping (NSCC) for babies born <37 weeks gestation. This position also includes local data collection and entry, not limited to the NSCC.
This incumbent will be responsible for the oversight of a range of program activities including assisting in the preparation of documents, liaising with key stakeholders across the local hospital and keeping accurate program records. The Research Midwife/Nurse is also accountable for their own practice standards, and for activities delegated to others and, in this capacity provides guidance and development opportunities for less experienced staff.
The position also plays a key role in the identification, delivery and evaluation of clinical QI outcomes and works closely with other health professionals and agencies, in partnership with patients and their families, to ensure optimum production of high quality and health-oriented quality improvement data and programs across the hospital. What You Will Bring To The Role
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Midwife Division 1 with AHPRA.
- Demonstrated experience and clinical skill in Nursing/Midwifery.
- Demonstrated capacity to provide effective nursing/midwifery care that is person centred, family inclusive and culturally sensitive to people accessing health services.
- Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise work.
- Demonstrated effective communications written and verbal skills.
