Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical/dental practitioners for the above position in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District. The position will be shared between Nepean Hospital and Blue Mountains Hospital or between Nepean Hospital and Hawkesbury Hospital; within the Department of Women’s Health - Obstetrics & Gynaecology. Each successful candidate will spend half their allocated time at
Nepean Hospital and the other half of their allocated time either at Blue Mountains or Hawkesbury Hospitals.
Specialists working across sites will gain diverse experiences, professional growth and development including experience at a tertiary referral Maternity Unit and exposure to subspecialty services such as Maternal Fetal Medicine, robotic surgery, and complex obstetrics and gynaecology and provide the benefits of working within a smaller regional site, balancing the demands of metropolitan and regional practice.
Successful applicants will provide expert medical assessment and management of patients within the O&G Specialty Department and will be required to participate fully in the on-call roster (between one or two sites) as required by the facility and in accordance with clinical privileges. Appointees will be credentialled and privileges will be extended across all relevant facilities in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.

Selection Criteria
- Possess or be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Possess Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics & Gynaecology (FRANZCOG) or equivalent as provided for in the Health Insurance Act 1997 and the Staff Specialists (NSW) Award. Evidence of Continuing Medical Education and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position.
- Sound clinical knowledge in Obstetrics & Gynaecology demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality assurance activities relevant to the specialty.
- High level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching and junior medical staff supervision consistent with contemporary best practice supervision standards.
- Demonstrates the skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical /Dental Practitioner including modelling of a high standard of professional behaviour to junior medical staff.
- Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support basic, applied, or clinical research as required within the Department.
Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Health Services Act 1997, and Staff Specialists (NSW) Award
Employees and Contractors must abide by the NSW Health Code of Conduct.
