Job Description
The Clinical Nurse II in an OBGYN ambulatory office provides direct and indirect patient care, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered services. This role involves acting as a liaison between patients and physicians, overseeing clinical tasks performed by medical assistants, and promptly managing patient inquiries through inbox messages and other communication channels.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient-Physician Liaison
- Facilitate effective communication between patients and physicians, relaying updates, test results, and patient concerns.
- Provide patient education on prenatal care, gynecological health, reproductive health, and postnatal instructions as directed by physicians.
- Clinical Oversight
- Provide guidance and oversight to medical assistants, ensuring adherence to clinical standards, protocols, and best practices.
- Monitor and maintain clinical supplies, equipment, and medication inventory in collaboration with support staff.
- Inbox Management & Patient Communication
- Triage and respond to patient messages, phone calls, and emails, prioritizing urgent needs and escalating as necessary.
- Document all patient interactions and follow-up plans in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Clinical Care & Coordination
- Perform nursing assessments, collect patient vitals, and assist with procedures such as routine exams, ultrasounds, and minor office-based treatments.
- Collaborate with the care team to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans, ensuring patient needs are met.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient records in compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory guidelines.
- Quality & Safety
- Adhere to infection control, safety procedures, and OBGYN-specific clinical protocols.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, staff meetings and continuing education to remain current with evidence-based practices.
Qualifications
Education & Licensure:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Degree in Nursing (BSN) Required
Minimum of 2-3 years of clinical nursing experience, ideally in OBGYN, womens health, or ambulatory care.
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) and ACLS certification required.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong clinical judgment, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
Effective communication and interpersonal abilities to work with diverse patient populations and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Proficiency with electronic health records and general office software.
Working Conditions
Primarily an ambulatory clinical setting with some direct patient interaction.
May require standing or walking for extended periods, as well as occasional lifting of equipment or supplies.
Must adhere to infection control and safety protocols in all patient care areas.
