The Department are seeking applications from motivated Clinical Nurses to join the State Schools Nursing Service team. This position is offered on a part time basis of 38 hours per fortnight (0.5FTE) in the Metropolitan North region. In addition to this permanent position, there may be temporary contracts throughout the region available to suitable applicants.

Your Role
State schools registered nurses play a pivotal role in collaborating with students/parents, connecting with schools, and interpreting specialist health support requirements into the school setting. Using evidence-informed clinical decision-making skills, nurses provide tailored services to school that reduce barriers to access and participation and bridge the gap between health and education.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Consult with students, their family and relevant stakeholders in supporting students with health needs at school
- Partnering with schools, health professionals and families as part of a multi-disciplinary approach
- Develop routine and emergency health plans that support the safe management of student's health needs at school
- Deliver health support training to school staff to enable the student to safely access and participate in schooling
- Contribute to continuous improvement of evidence-informed nursing practice locally and statewide
- Collaborate with school teams to support the inclusion of students with health needs, including curriculum planning, resource development and school improvement initiatives
- Build and maintain local health and professional networks
- Implements policies, procedures, legislation, codes, and standards to enable delivery of high-quality services aligned with departmental business objectives.
