Reporting to the Diagnostic Imaging Manager/Supervisor, this position supports a safe and efficient patient and family-centered care experience. This position is responsible for providing high-quality direct patient care and producing quality images. As part of an interdisciplinary Diagnostic Imaging Services team, this position is required to work all shifts and provide on-call coverage when assigned.
Description:
As a Diagnostic Sonographer I, you will perform a variety of standardized and complex ultrasound services for the diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology. Your responsibilities include preparing the patient for examination, reviewing patient history, explaining procedures, obtaining ultrasound images of diagnostic quality, and takes initial action to resolve abnormal findings. You will assist with diagnosis, clinical intervention and patient management all while ensuring a high level of patient care and safety. Your work may include assisting Radiologists and Cardiologists, Perinatologists and other medical staff with special procedures where required.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of extended diploma from an accredited ultrasound program or completion of certification in Diagnostic Sonography from an accredited program. Active or eligible for registration with Sonography Canada and/or Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic & Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Graduate of an approved training program in Ultrasonography. Ability to provide imaging guidance for women's health procedures in the Operating Room. Ability to support Interventional Radiologists while performing Ultrasound-guided procedures. Ability to work independently and efficiently supporting a very busy Emergency Department on Weekends and Evenings. Should be able to complete a scan interview as part of the hiring process.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated proficient organizational, technical, interpersonal, communication, and computer skills required. Demonstrated ability to assume responsibility, to work effectively both independently and within a team environment. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and in emergency situations required. Maternal Fetal Medicine experience. Vascular and BCLS certifications. Working knowledge of EPIC.
