Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the Unit Manager of Women's Health Ambulatory Care Clinics, the Advanced Practice Physiotherapist (PTII) is an Allied Health member of the interprofessional Pelvic Floor Clinic team. The role of the PT II is to provide front-line advanced-level pelvic health physiotherapy services to women referred to the Pelvic Floor Clinic for pelvic floor dysfunction. The PT II requires extensive clinical experience, advanced-level training, and education to offer expertise in pelvic health (internal examinations) physiotherapy. The PTII is expected to work collaboratively with the Pelvic Floor Clinic team, advise on complex clinical cases, and provide clinical leadership within the treatment team to ensure safe, efficient, and effective client care. Additionally, the PT II is expected to provide clinical guidance, coaching, and mentoring in advanced level pelvic health physiotherapy to staff, students, colleagues within and outside the discipline. The PT II provides leadership in program development, service, and Zone quality improvement in pelvic health physiotherapy. The PT II must demonstrate the ability to build capacity in evidence informed practice, evaluation, stakeholder engagement and contribute to physiotherapy practice councils in legislation, standards, guidelines, policies, and procedures
Description:
As a Physiotherapist II, you will provide coordination of physiotherapy and other allied health clinical services. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. You will work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will be making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge and follow-up. You will make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient and effective client care. You will ensure physiotherapy practice is evidence based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics and AHS policy and guidelines. You will be coordinating the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff. You will participate in program development and operational planning and representing the department on committees or programs. You will make decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow, caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers. AHS is dedicated to supporting our Physiotherapists in their practice area and expanding their skillsets regardless of location. All AHS Physiotherapists have access to a list of experienced clinicians across the province and are able to tap into this resource via email, phone and virtual meetings. As we transition to our Provincial Electronic Medical Record (Connect Care) you will also be able to share patient information real time with these senior clinicians to assist you in providing high quality care.

Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program or bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program and related experience. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.
Additional Required Qualifications:
A high level of independent and advanced practice in relation to pelvic health physiotherapy. Minimum 5 years (9000 hours) experience in the physiotherapy management of pelvic floor disorders. Advanced skills in orthopedic physiotherapy preferred (e.g., Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy). Demonstrated extensive and ongoing professional development in advanced level pelvic health physiotherapy including research, formal pelvic health physiotherapy courses, advanced post-graduate degrees. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently as sole charge physiotherapist. Excellent oral and written communication skills. At minimum 6 months experience delivering patient education in a variety of formats (virtual, in person etc.). Completion of a post graduate entry-level pelvic health (internal examinations) physiotherapy education and examination program. Completion of post graduate advanced-level pelvic health physiotherapy education program that includes physiotherapy assessment and treatment of complex pelvic pain and anorectal dysfunction. Current Connect Care role assignment and moderate computer skills (MS office, SharePoint, ZOOM etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred to be on the General Register of the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta with additional authorization to perform restricted activity of Spinal Manipulation. Preferred to be on the General Register of College of Physiotherapists of Alberta with additional authorization to perform restricted activity of using needles in practice.
