We are looking for an inspired individual with Cardiology Catheterisation Lab experience to become our Clinical Nurse Educator. The job will be suitable for nurses with extensive Cath Lab experience and those holding an Education qualification . The job offers the unique opportunity to bring your expertise to ensure a progressive learning environment for all grades of nursing staff.
You will be contributing to the delivery of high quality care in our ten Cath Labs at St.Bartholomew’s site. You will be working closely with the Education Team at Barts and the Education Sister in Cardiology.
The Cath Lab manages all speacliaties in Cardiology and functions as the emergency Heart Attack Centre for LAS activations in East London. We have 24/7 catheterisation labs offering world renowned emergency care to cardiology patients. You will work alongside the senior nursing team, and collaborate with the wider cardiology team to achieve the Trust’s vision.
You will have the opportunity to advise in relation to educational opportunities and assist nurses in developing themselves in accordance with their personal development plan and/ or appraisal objectives. The post holder will develop clinical competency using the Trust core and clinical competency document as a framework and will monitor completion of these to an agreed level.

To maintain primary responsibility for ensuring the Cath Lab department provides a progressive learning environment for all grades of nursing staff. The post holder will support and coordinate the development of Registered Nurses; Health Care Assistants and both pre- and post-registration nursing students by co-ordinating educational activities and assessments of learning within the department.
To be involved in the Corporate agenda participating in practice and nursing development within their CAG and liaising with the Nursing Development managers as appropriate.
The post holder will actively promote and contribute to inter-professional learning activities across the Critical Care unit and trust wide and be an effective role model for best practice nursing. The post holder will provide educational and clinical support for the nurses in the clinical area for 80% of their working time. The post holder will work closely with the Cardiology Education Sister supporting each other and deputising for each other on their absence.
