The Barren River District Health Department serves the residents and visitors of Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Hart, Logan, Metcalfe, Simpson, and Warren counties of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The Barren River District Health Department is accepting applications for a full-time Health Educator I to be based in Barren County, but will serve all 8 counties as needed (Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Hart, Logan, Metcalfe, Simpson and Warren).

Responsibilities:

This position will be responsible for a variety of health education duties and will develop relationships with community partners to advance the health of the community.
Duties will include Maternal/Child health initiatives, tobacco prevention, cessation and policy development.
Additionally, this position will actively participate in coalitions.
This position will assist with harm reduction efforts and work within the syringe services program.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

The minimum requirement is a bachelor’s degree.
Preference will be given to applicants that are bilingual.
Applicant must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.

The minimum hourly wage is $18.07. After a successful 6-month probationary period, the employee would receive a 5% increase. Annually, employees receive a board-approved raise.
