Consultant Anaesthesiologist
Industry & Sector: Healthcare — Tertiary care hospitals and perioperative services. This role supports high-volume surgical, obstetric and critical-care workflows, delivering safe anaesthesia, perioperative optimisation and pain management across on-site clinical settings in India.
About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Consultant Anaesthesiologist to join a dynamic multidisciplinary team providing comprehensive perioperative and critical-care services. The role is on-site in India and focuses on delivering high-quality anaesthesia across elective and emergency theatres, obstetrics, paediatrics and ICU handovers, while contributing to training, clinical governance and protocol development.
Role & Responsibilities
- Deliver safe anaesthesia care for elective and emergency surgical lists, including adult, obstetric and paediatric cases.
- Conduct thorough preoperative assessment and perioperative risk stratification; implement optimisation plans with surgical teams.
- Perform regional and general anaesthesia techniques — spinal, epidural, ultrasound-guided nerve blocks and TIVA — and manage intraoperative haemodynamics and monitoring.
- Lead airway interventions and manage difficult airway scenarios; supervise intraoperative ventilation and anaesthesia machine use.
- Provide postoperative and critical-care handover, acute pain management and ICU support as required.
- Drive clinical governance activities: audits, protocols, morbidity & mortality reviews, and mentor/teach junior anaesthesia staff.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
- MBBS with MD/DNB in Anaesthesiology or equivalent recognised qualification.
- Valid medical registration in India and demonstrable clinical experience in tertiary hospital settings.
- Proficiency in general and regional anaesthesia techniques, including ultrasound-guided nerve blocks.
- Competence in airway management and difficult airway algorithms.
- Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Experience in intraoperative monitoring, ventilator management and postoperative critical-care handover.
Preferred
- Fellowship or additional training in pain medicine, obstetric anaesthesia or critical care.
- Experience with paediatric anaesthesia and obstetric emergency management.
- Familiarity with anaesthesia information management systems and electronic medical records.
