At Blacktown, Mount Druitt and Westmead Hospitals, you’ll play a vital role in supporting women, newborns, and their families through every stage of the maternity journey. As part of the Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD), you’ll join a diverse and inclusive team committed to delivering high-quality, family-centred care.
What you’ll be doing
As an Assistant in Midwifery, you’ll work under the direction and supervision of a Registered Midwife/Nurse to provide safe, effective, and compassionate care to mothers and babies. You’ll play an important role in supporting daily care needs and contributing to positive patient experiences.

Assist with activities of daily living to promote comfort and independence
 - 
Support the maternity team in providing high-quality care to women and newborns
 - 
Recognise and promptly report changes in a patient’s condition to the supervising midwife/nurse
 - 
Maintain accurate documentation in line with NSW Health standards
 - 
Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and respectful team culture

Selection Criteria:
1. Current and ongoing enrolment in a Bachelor of Nursing/Midwifery and completion of Year 1 of academic and clinical placement studies or completion of Certificate III Assistant in Nursing
2. Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team
3. Demonstrated ability to use information technology systems
4. Proven ability to be self-motivated, flexible and adaptive as clinical needs arise, and still remain within the scope of practice of an AIN
